VNC- Virtual Network Computing
We use three different versions of VNC for different situations. They are all based on AT&T's Open Source Virtual Network Computing Software. They all remote desktop control to computers via ethernet, and have limited security. Security should considered when implementing. VNC has a wide range of applications including system administration, IT support and helpdesks. The applications consume very little resources of the computer systems they are installed on. A Network Administrator can almost be in two places at one time with VNC software.

TightVNC This is my favorite remote control utility. TightVNC has a small server and viewer software. Just run it, no need to install. TightVNC can be setup to be automaticly started as a service. A single server can have multiple viewers. The view nodes can interact with the desktop or by view only. TightVNC will work with most operating systems. It seems to have issues on a Winodows 2003 Server.

Servers Alive - Network Monitoring
Servers Alive is an end-to-end network monitor program.
